Girl Scouts of Japan donation drive for the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan
13 March 2011
Dear Girl Scout and Girl Guide sisters;
Thank you very much for all your warm messages and prayers for people of Japan who are affected by earthquakes and the tsunami which happened on 11 March 2011. The bond among Girl Scouts and Girl Guides are really encouraging and very much appreciated.
The Headquarters of Girl Scouts of Japan is located in Tokyo where we are still sensing aftershocks, but all the Board members and the staff are fine and able to function as usual.
However, we are still unable to ascertain the safety of our members in the seriously affected area (including Miyagi, Fukushima, Iwate and Ibaraki). The whole impact of the disaster is overwhelming and we are still trying to figure out what is needed and what we can do as Girl Scout. As soon as we get hold of the situation, we will post updates and ask for the necessary support.
I am hoping that all the Girl Scouts in Japan get united to gather courage to face this difficult situation.
With sincere gratitude for all your support and encouragement,
Teruko WADA,
President, Girl Scouts of Japan
Donation drive by the Girl Scouts of Japan
|
Thank you very much for your continuous warm messages and all the moral support. They are very much encouraging for all the people affected by the earthquakes and tsunami in Japan. Girl Scouts of Japan decided to gather goodwill donations. Since the transportation to the affected area is very much limited, at this point, we would like to ask for monetary contribution/donation. The donated money will be used for all the Girl Scout effort regarding the rescue and recovery in the seriously affected area. Thank you again for all your kind and warm messages of support. Girl Scouts in Japan will face this challenge with courage and take action with Girl Scout spirit.

Dear brothers and sisters in Scouting in Japan
Icelandic scouts extend their deepest sympathy to all Japanese scouts as
well as the whole Japanese nation.
The horrible consequenses of the earthquakes and the tsunami have awakened a
sense of deep sympathy amongst our scouts, and our thoughts and prayers are
with the families and friends of those who lost their lives. We also send
our warmest thoughts and prayers to those who have lost their homes and are
facing an uncertain future. The Icelandic nation has experienced eathquakes
and natural disasters, although fortunately our experience has never been
anywhere close to what the Japanese nation is going through at the moment.
Yours in Scouting,
Mr. Bragi Björnsson
Chief Scout of Iceland
